CALLING FOR PEACE PRESIDENT JEAN-BERTRAND ARISTIDE CONDEMNS VIOLENCE AGAINST JOURNALISTS AND REAFIRMS HIS SOLIDARITY WITH ALL JOURNALISTS

President Jean-Bertrand Aristide today called for a moment of silence in memory of Brignol Lindor, slain this week, and for Duverger Joseph Cius, critically injured in the same altercation in Petit Goâve.

In a breakfast meeting with over 150 physically challenged citizens in commemoration of the International Day for the Physically Challenged, President Aristide strongly denounced recent violence and violations of human rights that occurred earlier this week in the southern town of Petit Goâve. President Aristide called for a moment of silence and firmly condemned all violence against all journalists and reconfirmed his solidarity with all journalists. He called on the entire nation to continue to work together for peace.
