a232: Christophe's Royal Dahomey

From: Adrien Bance <abance@sympatico.ca>

The royal guard of Henry I (Northern kingdom of Hayti 1811-1818) bore the
name of "Royal Dahomey" and, as it is said, was composed of soldiers
coming directly from Africa. They were also, the agents of repression of
Christophe and this one relied great on them. 1) How these Africans did
arrive to Haiti after the Independence which put an end to the slaves
trade with the island? 2) Which was the statute of these soldiers and who
was in command of them? 3) What did they become with the fall of the
monarchy of Christophe? 4) Is there any serious research on these men?
Thanks for contribution.
