a1159: Haitian art

lawrencekent@earthlink.net

Dear Corbetter's,

Haitian art movement has taken a turn in direction.

Today academic and trained artists are leading the way. Naif
painting surely will go on but maybe not in its historic ways of the past.
A new generation of artists wish to become part of the mainstream of
inter-national art world. People like Duval-Carrie, Paul Gardere,
Thebaud, Dodard, Dambreville, Phipps, Bernard Wah and many others are part
of a new era. We should congratulate them on their accomplishments and
hard work. Still many galleries and museums neglect Haitian born or
Haitian American artworks. Look closely at there works and give them just
as much consideration as the naifs. Personal belief if you want to have a
complete collection you should mix modern with primitive. It's so much
more rewarding and
enjoyable.

Look forward to a lively discussion.
