Ibex Publishers is printing Dolores Schaefer's English translation of Le
Passage (Vale of Tears) by Port-au-Prince writer Paulette Poujol-Oriol this
year. We haven't chosen the book's cover art and would welcome any
suggestions you have, particularly since Haiti has a rich art tradition.

Vale of Tears is a novel about a woman and her descent from being married in
Port-au-Prince's social elite to being widowed, penniless and destitute,
desperate in search of money from indifferent family and friends to pay the
year's rent on Dec. 31 before she gets evicted from her meager home.
