For what this is worth:  I was just asked to write the Encyclopedia
Britannica entry on "Voodoo."  I only accepted to write if they
agreed to spell it "Vodou."  They agreed.  I wrote the entry of a
religious tradition, spelling out its history and main theological
tenets.  It will replace a very racist/imperialist entry that's there
now.  Slowly,  the new wave of writers, artists and representers,
will force change and respect.
