a1796: Re: a1782: Haitian broadcasters blast pirate stations (fwd)

From: Karioka9@cs.com

The shame of this story is (1) that there are Haitian "commercial
broadcasters" ignorant enough to attack community radio in the ignorant way
they do (e.g. the guy who runs Radio Soleil d'Haiti in NYC will tell anyone
who cares to ask that he's "proud to report the pirates to FCC;") and (2)
that the so-called pirates are robbing the community of a valuable resource
by running commercials on what is supposed to be a free community space.
Garry Pierre-Pierre (Haitian Times editor) ought to find somebody to write an
in-depth story on community radio vs. the privatization of the airwaves by a
handful of very rich, very powerful and very conservative multinationals.
It's a story I'd love to write, but dear Pierre-Pierre would be so estomake
(indignant) reading it that it's not worth the aggravation.
