<< Though I would hazard to say that your need to designate Haiti as a
non-advanced society hints at a colonialist attitude, one in which the
so-called
"non-advanced" society must be rescued from itself and its "non-advanced"
peoples by the colonial mind, which knows better what is good for it. >>

I don't NEED to designate Haiti as a "non-advanced" society. And I do not
think I know what's best for Haiti other than letting Haitians decide for
themselves. It is the non-majority group of Haiti who wants to make
decisions for the entire group, believing that the masses are not qualified
to know what's best for themselves. Ironically, I would say that the
educated minority of Haiti are behaving in a non-advanced way and not the
uneducated majority, who seem rather more in possession of common sense than
their so-called "betters". When I accuse Haiti's cream of society of not
being socially responsible, I am not alone. It is well known, and in fact
those elites who ARE respectful of their poorer brothers and sisters are
stand outs and are seen to be remarkable for this quality. And speaking of
colonial minds....I would say that Haitian francophiles who are so proud of
their French heritage and not a little ashamed of their African roots exhibit
more colonial tendencies daily than I ever thought of in my lifetime.

I wasn't only responding to you and your post specifically, I was speaking
the truth as I know it to the issue at hand. I don't care about other
countries and other societies. I know what I know about Haiti. The
situation is glaring and dangerous. If it doesn't change naturally, it will
change unnaturally, I am sure. The former would be preferable.
