African Diaspora Film Festival in NYC is showing 4  contemporary
Haitian films and also Lumumba.
Anthology of Film Archives, 32 Second Ave./2nd St.

Dec. 5 at 8:30 is programed as: A Special Night: A Night in Haiti.
(Admission $20 for that night). 2  Haitian films.

**Lumumba  Sun, Dec. 1 at 3:00pm
France/Belgium/Haiti/Germany, 2001, 115mins, drama,
French with English subtitles, directed by Raoul Peck.

Patrice Lumumba lasted only two months in office. However,
his short-lived government marked the life of many men
and women all over the world. Lead actor Eriq Ebouney
will be on hand to answer questions about the film.

living abroad to maintain its national economy. This and many
other facts about today’s Haiti are presented in this informative
documentary.

The past grandeur of Haiti, one of the first black republics, is
recreated here through the mad delusions of a man who believes
himself to be Henri “Roi” Christophe, former slave and liberator
of the island. This spirit-filled, burlesque tragic-comedy merges
facts and fantasy, memory and myth, to unearth the mystical roots of
modern-day Haiti.

Through the daily life of two hard working Haitian women, the film
demonstrates the extent to which the

ruined Haiti’s economy.
