Fabina Sainno sent to us these words written by Ray Killick (anybody know who
he is??? and what the document source is???):

"If Mr. Aristide is crazy, how do you then explain his clever gamble pitting
the Democratic Party of the United States of America and the Black Caucus
against Washington and the Republicans?"

Trust me, Fabina and Ray, U.S. Democrats did not need the issue of Aristide
or Haiti to pit us against Washington and the Republicans!!! There are plenty
more issues which divide us!!!

However, note this:

We are not advocating for the overthrow of our government, no matter how
questionable the U.S. Presidential election of 2000.

We're stuck with what we've got and it's up to us as U.S. Democrats to make
our voices heard by the current Administration -- all the while we challenge
Democrats to present an agenda and platform which can win by sooooo many
votes in the 2004 election that no regional vote miscount crap can alter the
ultimate result.

You see Fabina and Ray, it's up to Democrats (big "D" in the U.S.) and
democrats (small "d" all over the world) to work within democratic systems
and established rules and norms to control agendas.

Guns and mayhem may get media attention; however, democracy is a slow, quiet
process. One voter at a time making up his or her mind about what he/she will
do when in that very private, quiet place: the voting booth.

I pray that Haiti does not have to lose the momentum of the past years of
misery, just to have to start all over again and just to get to this very
same, very difficult "sticking point" 20 or so years from now!
