Dear Nod - Because you addressed the note to "Kathy", I'm not sure if you
are addressing Kathleen (Burke) or Kathy(Dorce) but in case it's the former:
the middle class are the people you
go to to have your teeth fixed/cleaned, buy letter paper and groceries, gas,
get the cut on your ankle stitched, have a mammogram, have your photos
developed - in short, live an ordinary life between the rich and the poor in
Haiti. They supply those things that still separate Haiti from, say,
Liberia, where there is just the poor and the palace. And they are
dwindling, sad to say, although I just had an uplifting conversation with an
optimistic middle class leader. Please see Corbett posting
"[iso-8859-1]Rachel Fouché vze4xd3t@verizon.net , yesterday I think, whose
thoughts echoed mine. Like you, she is Haitian by birth rather than
adoption like me!!!! Kathleen Burke
