i don't think i remembered to tell you all about this historical event--a
couple of months ago vancouver's first haitian restaurant opened up on
commercial drive near 2nd avenue.    it's called antoine's haitian
restaurant
and deli (though i don't yet see evidence of the deli part) and the food
is
YUMMY, though not completely traditional, i think.

there is also movement afoot to form a haitian community centre.
