Prelude to Haiti’s Bicentennial

212 years ago, in August 1791 African slaves in the
colony of St Domingue rose up. 12 years later in
November 1803 they had defeated Napoleon’s army, the
strongest army in the world.

The first successful slave revolt in the world would
give birth to the nation of Haiti in January 1804.

Tune in Monday, August 25 from 10 to 11 a.m. when the
Haitian Collective at WBAI will interview noted
historian Max Manigat on the Voodoo Ceremony/Congress
of August 14, 1791 at Bwa Kayiman (What really
happened at Bwa Kayiman? How significant was Bwa
Kayiman? Who was Boukman? What role did Voodoo play in
the Haitian Revolution? Is Voodoo the cause of Haiti's
woes?

Colette Pean of Millions for Reparations will tell us
why the demand for reparations is just and legitimate.
