7 Haitian migrants dropped off on beach

A yellow speedboat dropped seven Haitians off in Miami Beach near 54th
Street about 6:30 p.m. Monday. Three were promptly detained by Beach
lifeguards, the rest by police.

All came ashore in good health, said a Beach Patrol supervisor. The group --
which included several children -- will be turned over to immigration
officials.

The Coast Guard was notified to be on the lookout for the boat, which turned
around heading east.
