Haiti Bicentennial Events

Monday

Prelude to Bicentennial Commemoration, a silent auction of Haitian art to
raise funds for cultural events being planned by ACTION Foundation and
Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad, 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Artserve, 1350
E. Sunrise Blvd., Sunrise.

Wednesday


An Independence Day celebration with pumpkin soup, dancing and music, 10
a.m. to midnight at the Veye-Yo headquarters, 28 NE 54th St., Miami.

Thursday


Ceremonial Mass, 8 to 11 a.m. at Notre Dame D'Haiti Catholic Church, 110 NE
62nd St., Miami.

Cultural events, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at North Miami Avenue and 62nd Street,
including proclamations from international dignitaries, singing, dancing and
a performance by recording artist Wyclef Jean from 4 to 5 p.m.

Gospel festival, sponsored by Bethel Evangelical and Sheridan Hills Baptist
churches, 7 to 11 p.m. at Sheridan Hills Baptist, 3751 Sheridan St.,
Hollywood.

Cultural dancing and performances, sponsored by Veye-Yo, 7 p.m. at the Miami
Hyatt Regency, 400 SE Second Ave.

Soup Joumou Unity Day, a City of Miami Independence celebration, 11 a.m. at
North Miami Avenue and 62nd Street, Miami. Food, music, art, prayer and
historical presentations.

Saturday


"Haiti in the Twenty-First Century: Vision for the Future," 6:30 to 10 p.m.
at the African-American Research Library and Cultural Center, 2650 Sistrunk
Blvd., Fort Lauderdale. Guest speakers include former Haiti President Leslie
Manigat, County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion and state Rep. Phillip J.
Brutus.
