It's mosquito-borne meaning it is only carried from one human host to
another,
but  it's not mosquito-generated. If the mosquitoes have no human hosts
from
which to pick up the malaria germ, they won't be spreading it to any
others.
Kind of like other diseases which have been eradicated. If there's no pool
of
disease from which to spread, nothing can pick it up and spread it.
