19562: patikoul: Jamaica Observer article (fwd)

From: Patikoul69@aol.com

I just read the article from the Jamaica Observer; in fact I have been
reading all the posts back and forth on the Corbetre list and I realize that
unfortunately most of us living outside of Haiti are so terribly misinformed...and I
mean most of us including reporters.

I would like to know where was the Jamaica Observer when Aristide's armed
thugs were killing people and extorting money from just about every business man
they knew had some income? In fact where were they yesterday whem Lavalas
thugs went on a rampage and destroyed Port-au-Prince as if the capital can afford
to be destroyed?

Where were all those people in 2000 when Aristide himself served us with a
Coup d'Etat in the form of rogue elections? Where were they when their
journalist colleagues where being shot at? When radio stations were being set on fire
last month for sinply reporting the news? when radio and TV antenneas were
being destroyed? Where were they when the Haitian people were sufferung from what
was probably the worst dictatorship Haiti has seen in its 200 years of
existance? I call it THE WORST because it is all coming from a priest who was trusted
by 90% of Haitians, a priest who fought and struggled with the people, a
priest who got shot and brutalized several times. A priest who knows what it is
like to suffer with the people.

I applaud the rebels for trying to save us. Right now they are the lesser of
two evils and I welcome them. In fact I welcome anything that is not Aristide
or Lavalas.
