19681: Leiderman: HSG and HSP (fwd)

From: Stuart M Leiderman <leidermn@cisunix.unh.edu>

thank you very much for immediately correcting my inadvertent mistake
about Haiti Support Project (US) and Haiti Support Group (UK). and
incidentally, I did see Mr. Arthur's name at the bottom of an HSG post
that happened to follow mine in today's postings, albeit again with no
address.

in the back of my mind, I seem to remember that there was an active NGO
for Haiti in the UK. I think if there had been proper identification on
HSG's website, I would not have confused it with HSP...and in fact, might
have been likely to contribute something in the way of money or effort to
both organizations (but alas! no mailing address).

I do really appreciate the work and forbearance it takes to maintain an
international NGO, and how essential it is to do outreach, outreach,
outeach to gather in new supporters.

so, thanks again for the correction. I'm sure HSG merits recognition and
pounds sterling. and Joseph Alfred deserves a full house for his Atlanta
Summit in June. and in July, the Smithsonian Museum will surely have the
most ironic celebration of Haiti folklife on the Mall, under the shadow
of the Washington Monument and in plain view of Congress and the White
House. and come mid-August, HSP merits a fully-booked independence
cruise into the Caribbean (little fleeing boats notwithstanding). and in
early October, I'm looking forward to the "Chasseurs Volontaires"
monument of Haitian American Historical Society [HAHS] rolling into
Savannah, Georgia with ardent drums, fifes and flags waving high. and in
early November, of course, a million or more Haitian-American voters in
half-a-dozen critical swing states will not fail to help choose the next
President (would that the Diaspora were eligible to elect Haiti's, too).
what a year to survive!
