The U.N. Security Council resolution adopted Sunday to deploy a
multinational force to Haiti also calls for international aid for the
country (Lederer, AP/Yahoo! News).

UNICEF announced today that it is sending by air $400,000 worth of
medical, water and sanitation supplies to cover the needs of 30,000
people for three months, especially women and children (UNICEF release

The three-week rebellion that led to Aristide's exile claimed the lives
of more than 100 people (Stevenson, AP/Yahoo! News).
