Dear Editor,

When Paul Martin said that the Canadian government supported a
power-sharing deal with Aristide, he was lying. This becomes apparent
to anyone who looks at the Canadian government's actual actions in
Haiti.

The Foreign Affairs Minister repeatedly laid blame at the door of
Aristide, who had repeatedly shown his willingness to reach some
compromise. The fact that the US-funded opposition had refused to
cooperate in calling new elections, and had called for Aristide's
removal since before he was even elected, was ignored. The opposition
was never once criticized.

Like Paul Martin, [[your paper]] has made absolutely no mention of
these crucial facts. Like him, you are complicit in an illegal coup
d'etat, which I hasten to note is a war crime.

Sincerely,
