21146: Esser: Arrest of Jocelerme Privert (fwd)

From: D. Esser torx@joimail.com

It does seem that Privert's arrest has less to do with the events in
the days leading up to Aristide's forced exit, than long standing
dislikes on the part of of the U.S. authorities. Here is the brief
article announcing the revocation of his visa for the United States
from Nov. 21 2003:

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Nov 21 (AFP) - The United States on Friday abruptly
cancelled a visa issued to Haiti's Interior Minister Jocelerme
Privert, who is close to President Jean Bertrand Aristide, US
officials said.

The US embassy confirmed it had revoked a visa issued to Privert in
what embassy spokeswoman Judith Trunzo described as an "ongoing
administrative process." No other explanation was given.
