A few Societal changes brought on by the www:


Men's groups like the lions club are decreasing but they are essentially (?)
being replaced by fantasy leagues like Ultima Online or espn.com.  (The ? is
whether aspects of the club were not lost in the translation)

Traditional education HAPPENS online.  Shopping does as well (primarily
non-food shopping).

The local talent show is being replaced by the internationally accessible
iflim.com's of the www.

Political rallies HAPPEN online in addition to the traditional street
protests.

You can now have a friend that you know backwards and forwards without ever
having said a word to.
