21695: Walton: RE: 21670: (Chamberlain) Aristide's party snubs Haiti election council (fwd)

From: "Walton, Robert" <robert.walton3@us.army.mil>

RE: "Former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's political party has not
nominated anybody for a panel that will organize elections next year in
Haiti, citing abuses against the party since Aristide fled the country."

Abuses??? (Couldn't possibly be pay-back, or could it?)

Normally, if folks don't vote, they can't cry about the results but Lavalas
being Lavalas....(finish the sentence).

RE: "But Aristide followers, many of them from the country's poor majority
who viewed the ex-president as their savior, believe he was forced out of
office by the United States and France and should be allowed to return."

Come to think of it, didn't Aristide and his party cronies prod the
peasantry into investing in "Cooperatives" as their "way to wealth." Gee,
maybe it was an Aristide impersonator, who accepted responsibility for that
debacle and promised restitution. (Everybody was repaid, no broken promises,
right?) It certainly wasn't Lavalas leadership at the helm while Haiti's
econonomy crashed and burned-- or was it?.

Maybe it's a good thing that these enlightened folks don't vote.
