If Creole-speaking police can be found, they would be the ideal persons.
Haitians in the US who have police training would be fantastic, probably.
How
many are there? Can they be used? What about from Canada? Martinique? St.
Lucia? Some of the Beninois who were in Haiti in 1995-96 learned to speak
Creole pretty decently and did magnificent work. Easier than finding
Creole
speakers might be to give the Beninois intensive courses in Creole. For
the
most part, The Beninois were very culturally attuned to Haiti behaved very
respectfully and professionally, and they seemed to be very, VERY well
received
by Haitians... --nancy laleau
