22129: Nlbo: about the Haitian flag (fwd)

From: Nlbo@aol.com

I just did some extensive research on the Haitian flag. Among the sources I
consulted, I read in an article published in <haitianinternet.com> link from
<fouye.com> that from l9l9 when the U.S took over all Haitian institutions
until l934, the Haitian flag was not raised in Haiti. U.S arrived in l915, but it
was in l919 that the flag stop hoisting.
I found a lot of interesting facts. For instance Catherine Flon did not sew
the flag, no historian like Madiou or Beaubrun Ardoin or contemporary Ghislaine
Charlier knows of Catherine Flon. There was no creation of the Flag on May
18. It was rather a presentation at the Congress of Arcahaie.
I'll share more next month. Meanwhile it will be interesting to read what
others have heard about that Haitian patriotic symbol.
