23091: Holmstead: Re: 23089: (Chamberlain) Ex-rebels hold Haitian town, seek new Army (fwd)

From: John Holmstead <cyberkismet5@yahoo.com>

I wonder what all those anti-communists in Haiti's
bourgeosie must be thinking about this. Aren't they
afraid the Chinese communists might infect the Haitian
masses with their Maoism? I also wonder how
anti-communist/anti-Fidel hardliners like Roger
Noriega justify this seeming contradiction. I guess
it's okay as long as they are there to kick the sh*t
out of Lavalas. Communist Chinese policing Lavalas
demos, will wonders never cease. It was not long ago
that the commander of the Chinese riot police was
bragging that they could not wait to put into practice
new techniques for crowd control they have developed.

China's first batch of peacekeeping riot police forces
is scheduled to leave for Haiti in September to carry
out the United Nations peacekeeping missions, sources
with the Ministry of Public Security said.

The forces consist of 125 Chinese policemen who have
undergone a three-month-long special training and
passed exams held by the United Nations, the ministry
said.

Zhou Yongkang, state councilor and minister of the
Public Security, visited the training base Tuesday and
extended greetings to the trainees on behalf of the
Chinese government.

According to Zhou, it is an important diplomatic move
to sending peacekeeping policemen for UN peacekeeping
missions as it reflects the role and influence of
China, a permanent member of the UN Security Council,
in the international affairs.

It also showcases China's devotion to maintaining
world peace and stability, Zhou said.

He ordered the policemen to observe all relevant UN
rules and regulations, respect local customs and
fulfill all tasks.
