Call for Submissions

A Bird's Nest (Tentative Title): A Collection of Short Fiction by
Haitian Women
Edited by Ella Turenne

This anthology will highlight the writing of contemporary Haitian women
writers, embracing both emerging voices and those voices we know well.
Authors must be women of Haitian descent, but need not have been born in
Haiti.

All writing styles accepted. Stories need not be about or set in Haiti,
however, stories of this nature are extremely welcome. Stories in
French and Kreyol are acceptable (an additional plus if they are already
translated.)

Please e-mail your short story of between 4,000 and 8,000 words as an
attachment saved in Microsoft Word to revolusyon@aol.com on or before
October 30th, 2004. Early submissions are encouraged. Unpublished work
preferred. If published previously, please indicate where, when and who
owns rights. In the subject line write your last name, the word
"Submission," and the word count. Include a short bio at the end of the
story along with the word count. Note that only authors whose works are
accepted will be contacted.

Please feel free to pass the call along to others who may be
interested.

A Bird's Nest is not yet contracted with a publisher. In light of this,
exact form of payment has not yet been established. All contributors
will be updated as these matters have been finalized.

Maybe the truest thing to be said about racism is that it represents a
profound failure of the imagination.
