LIVE TELETHON FOR HAITIAN STORM VICTIMS

With more than 1,500 people dead and an equal number missing in their
homeland from Tropical Storm Jeanne's floodwaters, South Florida's Haitian
community is pulling together once more on behalf of a relief effort for
Haiti.

A live telethon on behalf of the more than 250,000 Haitians affected by the
recent floods in Haiti's northwest region will take place between 7 and 11
p.m. Monday in the studios of the Haitian Television Network of America,
2800 Biscayne Blvd., Miami.

The event will air live on HTN, Channel 24 in Miami-Dade County and 32 in
Broward. All the money raised will go to assist the American Red Cross
Chapter of Greater Miami and the Keys, which is assisting those who have
been affected.

The telethon also will be an opportunity for the larger community to get a
taste of Haitian culture, with scheduled performances by several Haitian
musical and comedian acts.

For more information, call the Haitian Neighborhood Center, Sant La, at
305-573-4871. For those without cable but who would like to pledge a
donation, call the American Red Cross during the hours of the telethon at
305-644-1200 or call HTN at 305-571-5000.
