23374: Esser: URGE Congress to STAND up for The Haiti Resolution not the 'HERO' ACT (fwd)

From: D. Esser <torx@joimail.com>

We urge all pro-democracy Haitians and activists to strongly denounce
the HERO ACT and all attempts to recognize or fund a government in
Haiti that came to power by killing Haitian policemen and civilians
and because of unethical and unprincipled foreign "affirmative
action" and colonial patronage.

Oppose this misguided push to get the HERO ACT's passage before the
elections. Write, call, fax your congressional representative to
denounce the HERO ACT in all its formats. Especiall call, write, fax:

Haiti's economy cannot be jumstarted when its people are under brutal
political and human rights oppressions. Ask your congressional rep to
first support the Haitian-American call for:

1. The return of Constitutional rule to Haiti by restoring all
elected officials of all parties to their offices throughout the
country until the end of their mandates and another election is held,
as mandated by Haiti's Constitution;

2. Condemn the killings, illegal imprisonment and confiscation of the
property of supporters of Haiti's Constitutional government, and
insist that Haiti's Illegitimate "interim government" immediately
cease its own persecution and put a stop to persecution by the thugs
and murderers from the paramilitary gangs;

3. Insist on the immediate release of all political prisoners in
Haitian jails, including Prime Minister Yvon Neptune, other
Constitutional government officials and folksinger/activist So Ann;

4. Insist on the disarmament of the thugs, death squad leaders, and
convicted human rights violators, and their prosecution for all
crimes committed during the attack on Haiti's elected government;
and, help rebuild Haiti's police force, ensuring that it excludes
anyone who helped to overthrow the democratically elected government
or who participated in other human rights violations;

5. Stop the indefinite detention and automatic repatriation of
Haitian refugees and immediately grant Temporary Protected Status to
all Haitian refugees presently in the United States until democracy
is restored to Haiti; and

6. Support the calls by the OAS, CARICOM and the Africa Union for an
investigation into the circumstances of President Aristide's removal;
and, enact Congresswoman Barbara Lee's T.R.U.T.H Act (HR 3919) which
calls for the investigation of the forcible removal of the
democratically elected President of Haiti.

U.S. House of Representatives

Capitol Hill, Washington D.C.

Dear Sir/Madam,

As a concerned American voter, I want to remind you that America used
to stand for the principles of the rule of law, civility and
democracy. On February 29, 2004, the Bush Administration helped to
undermine these principle by overthrowing the Constitutionally
elected government of Haiti.

Your efforts to now pass legislation providing access for Haitian
textiles into the US market only adds to legitimize this illegal
action and dangerous policy of regime change. Haitians do not need
the passage of either a House or Senate version of the Haiti Economic
Recovery and Opportunity (HERO) bill (S-2261) or said misguided
legislation to support an imposed government on Haiti in any form.

What Haiti needs to jumpstarts its economy is return to
Constitutional rule, which you may support by not supporting or
legitimizing the Latortue regime's rule with passage of the HERO ACT.

Haiti needed U.S. support when it had a Constitutional government.
Today Haiti needs a stop to the killings and systematic and arbitrary
jailing of innocent Haitian civilians. No monies sent to Haiti's
current illegitimate government is well spent U.S tax dollars
whatsoever.

The hard working, pro-democracy Haitian American communities in New
York, Miami, Chicago, Florida and throughout the Diaspora are simply
asking for a return to the rule of law, not installation of more
Apaid and Boulos sweatshops in Haiti!!!! 200 years of this is quite
ENOUGH for Haitian-Americans who, before the U.S.-backed Coup d'etat,
were sending more money to Haiti than the United States government -
almost a billion a year.

Perhaps the people of Haiti, in the hurricane affected areas, perhaps
the Haitian-Americans whose families perished in the floods in Haiti,
could have survived the heavy rains of Storm Jeanne, if Haiti's
government and civil preparedness agencies had not been gutted by the
U.S.-backed Coup d'etat regime and replaced with mercenaries, former
military or left un-manned.

The HERO ACT only encourages and letigimizes the grief and
exploitation of the impoverished Haitian masses, especially as the
United States didn't see its significance or the reason for its
passage until AFTER the overthrow of Haiti's Constitutional
government.

The entire HERO ACT idea needs to be scrapped. Instead, the U.S.
Congress may begin to redeem itself and put into application some of
the United States's founding and Constitutional principles by
supporting the Haiti Resolution noted below.

For, Haitians want nothing more than to be allowed to be self-reliant
and for the U.S. to stop being a corrupting influence in Haiti,
hiring mercenaries such as Guy Phillipe and propping-up buffoons like
the (rotund ninja turtle sadist) LaTortue as "PRIME" minister, who
hasn't lived in Haiti since 1964 and represents no one except the
morally repugnant, very ROTUND, economic Haitian elites and their
bloody "freedom fighters" (now robbing food aid and bottled water
from storm Jeanne victims in Gonaives.)

Sincerely,
