Help Haiti succeed

Haitians are capable of running their own country. There are many competent,
experienced and well-prepared Haitians ready to help their country.

But they have been pushed aside by influential powers who would rather deal
with the incompetent and corrupt in order to control and denigrate that
nation.

Haiti needs to be dealt with honesty and sincerity by its so-called friends.
They should provide the assistance promised and allocate funds designated
for national projects that benefit the Haitian people first, not obscure
foreign companies.

Washington also has great influence. It should change the economic and
political script established since 1915 to deal with Haiti by accepting and
allowing true modernization there. The U.N. mission in Haiti is failing
because it is being led by a country experimenting with democracy itself.

Haiti still can be saved and be served by Haitians, as long as its friends
are willing to negotiate with those willing and ready to serve their country
honestly.
