dear Readers:

it is less than a year since a Haitian bicentennial cruise ran into deep 
water because of tacit endorsement of Haiti's disputed temporary 
leadership.  but, reading today's news, Haitian-Americans are again 
leaning on the same person to promote a charitable campaign for a 
war memorial in Savannah, Georgia.  with the Haitian community at home and 
abroad so divided between the past and present leadership, where is the 
logic of courting such divisiveness?  will there someday be a monument to 
Haiti's bandits?
