"Acajou" is /Swietenia mahagoni" /, introduced to Haiti andnaturalized. England and France cut it massively in the 19th century fortheir fleets. It is a beautiful hardwood used in cabinet making, but isnow rapidly being depleted as Haiti is deforested.
