HAITIAN MAKES CASE FOR SEAT BACK IN BLOC

PORT-OF-SPAIN -- Haiti's foreign minister met with his Trinidadian
counterpart Tuesday in an effort to persuade the Caribbean Community to end
his country's suspension from the regional bloc since the ouster of
President Jean-Bertrand Aristide more than a year ago.

''My wish is for Haiti to take its place in the Caribbean Community'' at its
July summit,'' said Haitian Foreign Minister Herard Abraham before meeting
with Trinidadian Foreign Minister Knowlson Gift.

Abraham is scheduled to visit Barbados today.
