25015: Hyppolite Pierre: (comment) last take on the Neptune issue (fwd)

From: Hyppolite Pierre <hpierre@irsp.org>

First, is there such thing as "bail" in Haiti's judicial system? I am asking
in all innocence for if there is, there could still be possibility for a
compromise here on the Neptune case.

Gousse and friends, Inc., could release him on bail and require certain
conditions of him (like minimal or no political statement since that's where
their fear may truly be). Meanwhile, the OAS/Einaudi proposal could be
implemented (i.e. a panel of judicial experts, national and international
judges, could investigate the case and decide), and the impasse would if not
end, at least be crossed over.

Both sides would save face. This would be a compromise. Many if not most
people would breathe a sigh of relief.

That's my very last take on this issue but even this may be too little, too
late. Neptune may have already passed the point of no return.

Best regards,
Hyppolite
