Announcement: Upcoming English/Creole
Community Health Worker Training Course



When:  July 12th to August 16th, 2005. The class will meet every Tuesday and 
Thursday from 9am to 12 pm.


Where: Miami Dade College Medical Campus
            950 N.W. 20th Street
            Miami, Fl Room 2111


Course Description: Community Voices Miami will be sponsoring the next 
Community Health Worker Training Course. This is a 5-week course that will 
cover basic core competencies involved in the work performed by community 
health workers. Topics that will be addressed include: the history and role of 
CHW’s in the community, confidentiality, communication and interviewing skills, 
and methods for assessing public benefits and social services.

The course is comprised of 30 hours of coursework and 15 hours of field 
experience. The course will be taught in English and Creole.

Upon completing the requirements and demonstrating an ability to apply the 
competencies learned in the community, Miami Dade College will award the 
trainees with a CHW certificate that will be valid in Miami Dade County.

The course is free of charge
