How sad it is that Haiti stays in the same destructive groove.
When I read Herbert's explanation yesterday in the New York Times on how
Ireland -Ireland!!! - the country my mother had to leave at 16 and my father
at 23 to earn a living! -
was now the richest in the EU, due mainly to emphasizing AND PROVIDING free
education up through the university level, low taxes (not to mention safety)
to business, and comprehensive health care so its citizens AND visitors
could survive. Order.
Haiti is and has been doing exactly the opposite. The uneducated and
unemployed make great political supporters, I guess, and that's all
so-called "leaders" care about in Haiti.
