25549: Hyppolite (reply) Re: 25547: from LeGrace FW: Threat to National Archives / Menaces contre les Archives Nationales (fwd)

From: Hyppolite Pierre <hpierre@irsp.org>

Burning of the National Archives? Not just insane but inhumane and plainly stupid. But now that such plot seems to have been discovered, it is simply time to pass to preventive action. It should therefore not be that hard for MINUSTHA and PNH to protect the Archives, since there seems to be actual knowledge of such a plot. Hopefully, they have a simple strategy:

-protect the National Archives;
-identify the culprits and arrest them;
-make known to the public their political affiliation.

I would even go further. If true, that a political party is involved in this mad plan, the Electoral Council (CEP) should at least ban the leadership of that party -individually- to participate in the next elections, fine them for the cost of MINUSTHA and PNH protecting the National Archives' perimeter, and also perhaps even ban that party from functionning unless and until reformed with a whole new and different leadership. That new leadership would have to express publicly and explicitly their disavow of violent political maneuvering, as they would also have to, legally, understand that any future participation in any form of violence will mean the permanent dismantling of their party. Short of those sorts of measure, power-hungry Haitian politicians will continue to destroy the country and its patrimony, believing correctly that violence is the way for them to achieve their political goal.
