25565: Raber: (Comment) Hunger Stike (fwd)

From: PM Raber <raber88@zoominternet.net>

Checking the news reports from around May 10, 2005, Yvon Neptune was on his
death bed and the powers that be in the US press were writing articles in
every major newspaper to save his life. Visiting medical doctors from the
OAS confirmed that he was living his last days even though 3 Haitian medical
doctors (who have actually seen people dying of hunger) said he was doing
well. This is 8 weeks later and not a peep from any of these people who
were trying to save Neptune. I hear that he has not even been in the
regular jail but in a private residence in Pacot rented by the government
(called the Prison Annex). The joke on the streets is that many hungry and
poor Haitians who are slowly dying from the conditions in Haiti would love
to have a life as bad as Neptune.

Does anyone on the list know the conclusion of the hunger strike soap opera?
