The clearest, though partial, list of presidential candidates can be found

For those not fluent in French I append a non professional translation.

Closure of the registration process for presidential candidates: 54
registered.

54 presidential candidates, including one woman, Judy C. Roy, were
registered at the headquarters of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP)
before the process was ended.
The Fanmi Lavalas party of fallen Predident Jean Bertrand Aristide is to be
represented by two candidates: Gerard Gilles and Marc Louis Bazin. The
leader of the Movement for the Instoration of Democracy in Haiti (MIDH) was
chosen by the dissident group of Yvon Feuillé, ex contested Lavalas Senator.
Gerard Gilles, ex contested Lavalas Senator presents himself as the
candidate of the official branch of J B Aristide's party.
Several former high officials of Lavalas such as ex Chief of State René
Préval and Jean Marie Chérestal, ex Prime Minister in the Aristide
government alao figure on the long list of presidential candidates
registered with the CEP before the list was closed at Midnight on Thursday.
Numerous Lavalas dissidents also presented their candidature, including Dany
Toussaint.
Amongst the nine independants on the list appear Charles Henry Baker,
Emmanuel Justima, Dupuy Elie and Paul Arcelin.
There are also several ex Duvalierists such as Franck Romain of the Paka
Pala party (literally:Cannot not be there party)
Ex military are also represented; notably Himler Rébu and Guy Philippe who
are in favor of reestablishing the army.
Presidential candidates Evans Paul, Paul Denis, Gérard Gourgues, Hubert
Deronceray, Serges Gilles, Samir Mourra, Leslie François Manigat, Dumarsais
Siméus, Turnep Delpé, Luc Mésadieu, Chavannes Jeune, Rigaud Duplan, René
Julien, Raynold Georges all show signs of confidence in their victory in the
forthcoming elections.
