I don't quite understand Mr Morse's post. Judges can only pass judgement on
cases brought before them by the executive represented by the Police, the
public  defender and the people. The Police. Judges can work only where they
are

allowed  to and where their verdict can be respected. Duvalier let people rot
in jail and  fired any judge that would dare oppose him. Aristide did the same
with his  ennemies even after judges ordered them out. The current government
doesn't even  bother with judgements. It  just throws in jail people who it
considers potential threats to the safe execution of its plans whatever they
may  be. All it needs is "public clamor". Where there is no Police no
Government

to  speak of and even the people are zombified by corruption and misery there
can't  be effective judges, Justice or judgement or meaningful verdicts. So
instead of  attacking judges why not consider the conditions they work under. I

think it's  good to know that in Haiti someone or a group of people is
showing some backbone  and striking for some kind of principle instead of being
led
by the nose on the  streets to clamor for the sole purpose of toppling this or
that government  without the inkling of a thought as to how to deal with the
vaccuum  created,
