27966: Boswell (reply) Haiti Leader Must Perform (fwd)

From: Richard Boswell <boswellr@pacbell.net>

The article which discusses the comment by U.S. Ambassador Carney in my
view is clearly a message to Preval to watch out how far he ventures.
No doubt he is being bombarded with warning messages from a lot of
quarters about how he must conform. After what happened to Aristide
with the added fact that Preval has only one term, I worry that too
much will be expected of him and that he will not be able deliver much.
Add to this that we don't know how many seats he will get from the
parliamentary elections. By the way why is the count taking so long?

And I must say, with due respect to his opponents and to the U.S.
Ambassador. If this were an election anywhere else in the U.S. with
such overwhelming numbers for the victor, nobody would be paying
attention to the candidates who could barely muster in the very low 2
digits. I do not mean to say that Preval should ignore the opposition.
As President he must be the president for all of the people.
