One should never forget that effective irrigation in Haiti, a very
mountainous county, depends on the health of its watersheds which are,
unfortunately,
largely deforested leading to massive flooding and erosion with every
rainstorm.

 Any irrigation system will quickly be destroyed or filled with sediment
unless the watersheds are reforested, restored and protected.
