Bernard DIEDERICH to speak @ UMass-Boston

THE AFRICANA STUDIES DEPARTMENT OF UNIVERSITY OF
MASSACHUSETTS-BOSTON PRESENTS:

Bernard DIEDERICH – Journalist and author of many books about the Caribbean. Author of “Papa Doc and the Tontons Macoutes”. During his professional career as a journalist and author, DIEDERICH has won many distinctions. They include: The 1976 Maria Moors Cabot Gold Medal (conferred by Columbia University, New York), The 1983 Overseas Press Club’s Mary Hemingway citation for the best reporting from abroad, The 2003 James Nelson Goodsell Award (conferred by Florida International University) and the Caonabo de Oro 2003 (by the Dominican Journalist Association)… DIEDERICH will present his new book: “Le Prix du sang” (The Price of blood), the stories of the young people who lost their lives fighting Duvalier’s dictatorship.
