Kidding Around | Haitian Community Arts Festival

Come and celebrate one of Miami's rich cultures at the family fun day at the Historical Museum's Haitian Community Arts Festival. Kids of all ages can explore the world of Haitian traditions in an action-packed day of dance, cooking, drumming and more through the presentations, workshops and demonstrations by local community artists.

From 1 to 4 p.m., you can listen to storytelling by Lilian Nerette Louis,
take dance class with Raymonde Vertyl & Dieudonne Daphnis and learn some of the moves like those of Felicia Ali Salazar, above. There are also drumming demos with Emile Wilnord or get your hands dirty and create Carnival costume hats and Haitian arts and crafts with Margaret Armand.

The Historical Museum of Southern Florida is at 101 W. Flagler St., Miami. Regular hours: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.- 9 p.m. every third Thursday and noon-5 p.m. Sunday.
