I have often wondered if the word philanthropy exists in the Creole
vocabulary since it's hard to find it in practice in Haiti.

While the wealthier employ the less wealthy, be it the bourgeoisie or the
elite or the grann manje or whatever label one wants to use, I don't seem much
of an effort from them to start institutions or programs that would have some
sort of sustainable impact.
