According to information sent to me by the Consulat-General of the
Kingdom of The Netherlands (Consulat-Général du Royaume des Pays-Bas)
in Port-au-Prince, the wellknown Haitian novelist, writer, poet,
playwright and artist Frankétienne has been awarded this year's "Prins
Claus Prijs", an award from the prestigious Dutch Prince Claus Fund.
Frankétienne is the first Haitian artist to receive this award.
