Description

This activity will work on building the trade and business enabling environment in Haiti by providing support to the Government of Haiti and private sector associations. The work carried out under this activity will support the Government?s efforts to engage internationally on trade policy and increase the private sector's capacity to advocate on trade and investment issues. It will build on on-going USAID projects in the areas of association development and
maritime security, as well as on the important USAID initiative underway to facilitate investment in Haiti. Increased public-private dialogue will be a key element to I-TRADE. This activity will be expected to complement other USAID activities that seek to enhance production and the development of market value chains by addressing the internal and external barriers to trade.

The performance-based Contract to be awarded will aim to increase trade opportunities as well as the capacity of Haitians to take advantage of these opportunities through access to investment and trade information. As a result, USAID expects to see clear linkages between the I-TRADE project and related USAID development projects in the area of market development, and the resulting contribution to the number of Haitians involved in sustainable economic activities.
