Nice to see some constructive discussion again. Talking about corn/maize as a feedstock for ethanol/biofuel is for the snow belt. Cane is what Brazil uses. They probably are reducing forest to expand cane plantings. Haiti does not have that problem, but water use for cane is a problem.

Another path is palm oil to diesel conversion. A much better idea for haiti. The plaine cul de sac could be filled up with oil palm plantations. A contest between Titid and Jean Claude for who can produce the most bio-diesel?

The savanne desole´ should be filled with mesquite and other leguminous trees, yes. Mesquite plantings are all over the southern border area of the USA. For premium priced charcoal.
