double-standard in action in  the way the United States treat Cuban and Haitian 
emigrants
reaching land by  boats. U.S. immigration policy has been inconsistent,
racist, unfair, unjust,  and also politically motivated. The contrast between
Jean-Ferdinand  Monestime, who landed on Hallandale Beach on March 28 and
Francisely  Bueno, who landed on Big Pine Key in August 2004 is astounding. 
Whereas
Jean-Ferdinand (Haitian) is in detention, Francisely Bueno (Cuban) is  pitching
ball for the Atlanta Braves.

The  racism goes to high gear when we also know the preferential treatment
U.S.  immigration policy reserves fpr white Europeans from countries in the
former Soviet Union bloc and other European countries generally. This is not
really a surprise to anyone since Racism has been ingrained  in every 
institution
of this country from birth as its very  constitution was written by avowed
slave owners. However, more and  more people in the United States have been
fighting against this  racism. The Civil Rights Movement of the 1960's opened a
window to carry on  this anti-racist struggle. Today, the racist 
double-standard
in U.S. immigration  policy against the Haitian emigrants is opening another
window for the  anti-racist movement in the United States to express itself
firmly and  unequivocally.
