Has Elizabeth Roebling even read this study?

 The authors of the study clearly state that they were only estimating the
 number of victims and the identity of those who victimized them during a
 22-month period beginning with the departure of Aristide.

 Reading the Lancet article, you can clearly see that Kolbe and Hutson
 never claimed that the numbers of human rights violations were higher or
 lower post-Aristide; they simply stated what the rates of violations were
 during the period of their study.

Anyone who states otherwise is trying to muddy the waters.

 The poster may consider herself an expert on the experience of Haitian
 women (she also considers herself to be an expert on expatriates in the
 DR, Quakers, the American Left, and interestingly, the correct way to
 produce the Nutcracker ballet - see
 http://www.mountainx.com/opinion/1998/1223letters.php ) but she does not
 speak on behalf of Haitian women who have experienced mass rape.
 Trashing all Haitian supporters of the ousted president as "gang members"
 is another lexicon of the neocolonial myth-making and domination.

 Pointing out the roots of class inequity does not equal an endorsement of 
violence.
