5903: Haitian art exhibit in southern Florida

"Collectors' Choice: Haitian Art in South FLorida, " an exhibit of paintings, 
will be on display December 2 through January 4 at the Main Library, 100 S 
Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale.  The exhibit features art by Ludovic Booz, 
Gigi Lilavois, Regine Mercier, Henry Pelissier, Alpi, Sophia Lacroix, 
Isabelle Debrosse and Louis Rosemond.

An opening reception for the exhibit will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday , 
December 2 at the main Library.  in addition to meeting the artists, 
attendees can hear a book discussion with Gladys Fritz Hermantin, author of 
Haiti Our Story.  Presenting 500 years of the history of Haiti, this book 
covers the discovery, the first inhabitiants, the slave trade, and the 
struggle for independence and power.

The free exhibit and reception are presented by Emile Viard/Vie & art 
Collections and sponsored by the Broward Public Library Foundation as part of 
the American Haritage Series.
